Along with remodeling, she offers design services, if necessary. She can advise and help you accomplish whatever project you are considering. Amanda offers a wide variety of home renovations from kitchen and bathroom remodels to whole house renovations, as well as room additions, floorplan modifications, and new construction. Q: Please explain your process, such as meeting with homeowners, deciding on a budget and a timeline. A: Typically, I meet the client initially to get an understanding of the scope of work and vision for their project. After discussing what's possible and determining the client’s style, materials, budget, timeline, etc., I put together a detailed estimate that shows both the material and labor costs. A second meeting is to review the project estimate and determine timing of the next steps, such as contract signing, start dates, and shopping for material selections. Q: How did you become interested in this type of business? A: I have always had a love of interior design, home organization, and remodeling. I find it very fulfilling to have created a business that allows me to do all three. Q: Are the services you offer unique in any way? A: Yes, I am often told that it is hard to find a contractor who can also design and have a vision for the space once it is decorated. I've put together a team of architects, structural engineers, carpenters, electricians, etc. who work with me to efficiently implement a project. Many of my subcontractors have worked with me for more than 15 years. Q: What is the most challenging project that you have coordinated? A: One of the most memorable projects was just last year when I removed the entire roof of a single-story home to add a second story. The square footage of the home was doubled by adding two bedrooms, two bathrooms, one laundry room, and a loft to the second story space. The project was done in four months and turned out beautifully! Q: Do homeowners have any misconceptions about the remodeling process? A: I think a lot of homeowners are leery of the remodel experience because there have been horror stories of projects that have gone wrong. I try to educate and communicate the details of projects, so the homeowner understands what to expect. This greatly reduces anxiety for the homeowner and creates a positive experience for all. Q: How important is it for a homeowner to be aware of current trends in home design? A: Our homes are often our greatest investment, so understanding what will increase the value of the home is important. I advise the client on what the trends are and how the trends can be incorporated into the project, but find it's very important to have a balance of what the client will love living with day to day and the current trends. Knowing whether the homeowner plans to live in the home for years to come or plans to sell the home soon is taken into consideration.
