As the mother of young children, life is busy for Kazmira Pedonesi. In October 2022, she added “shop owner” to her responsibilities. That’s when a wellness market opened in Wimberley as an avenue to connect people in the Wimberley Valley and surrounding areas with local farmers, ranchers and producers in Texas who had sustainable business practices. For the farmers and ranchers, this includes those who practice regenerative farming. Chelsea Pattison, also a busy mother of young children, co-owns the market. “She is in charge of vetting all of our vendors,” Kazmira says. “Every product we sell is meticulously researched, to make sure it is made in the cleanest way possible. “I handle more of the accounting and finance roles,” Kazmira adds. “We both dabble with our prepared foods line, and love being in the store and mingling with our community.” Q: Why did you decide to rebrand the market to the name “The Good Place”? A: We wanted a brand that more closely resonated with our mission and community. We feel very rooted in the community here, and we want a warm feeling associated with our store. We want to be known as that good place in town, where you can get a nutritious meal, and visit often. Q: Besides fresh meats and produce, what are examples of other items you sell? A: Our store offers a variety of foods and artisan goods. All of the items on our shelf are always intentionally curated, sustainably made, without seed oils and are real-food focused. We have a prepared foods line with family meals, grab-and-go items, roasted nuts, protein balls, dressings and more. The menu for that changes weekly. We have a wonderful skin care line that we carry and candles, too. We love hearing from the community, and many of the items we stock are requests from customers. We all appreciate being able to get these things locally, without having to drive into Austin or San Antonio. And supporting our local business extends to supporting the local community Q: Can someone shop at your store without being a member? A: You do not need to be a member. You can just come in and shop. Being a member does help us with our daily costs and consistency with making purchases to our ranchers and growers. It also gives you benefits like 10 percent off on Fridays and access to low-inventory items throughout the year. Q: Does someone have to be a member to place an order? A: We do not offer pick-up orders at this time, but welcome individuals to come in and shop with us. They're welcome to call ahead to see if we have something in stock, and we're almost always able to hold something in the back.
