Small Business Highlight: Concierge of Austin

natalie tran February 6, 2024

If you need something done, Becca Lusk is your gal. Becca was working the overnight shift at a local television station in 2000 and was available during the day to help neighbors, friends and family with odds and ends. After she started helping them, she discovered she enjoyed that more than her night gig. That’s how her business -- Concierge of Austin – was born. At first Becca was doing corporate accounts and would stock kitchens with snacks and drinks for their employees. From there, she began doing private accounts, shopping for groceries for clients, and as an added benefit, putting away those groceries. At the same time, she would re-organize their refrigerators. That’s when she realized her passion for organization. Q: What are some of the most common services you offer? A: I do a wide variety of services. Mainly I perform home and office purging and organization. I still have a handful of clients for whom I grocery shop. I also do home management. I take care of the ins and outs of clients’ extra homes here in Austin. I essentially check your “to do” list off! You need it done, I will get it done to the best of my abilities. Q: What are some of the unusual services you've provided? A: I’ve packed a few clients up and helped move them to different cities and states. I absolutely love the holidays! Each year I have some clients who have entrusted me with putting up their Christmas tree and decorations. It’s not unusual, but it’s special to me. Q: Why do you enjoy this type of work? A: I enjoy helping others. I enjoy being there for others. I enjoy taking burdens and stress off others. God put me on this earth to serve and this was the gift he gave me. Q: What's the most challenging or unique project a customer has needed help with? A: I am so grateful I have many repeat clients. All my projects are challenging. I love it. I have had many clients for whom I have had to set up a new home for them from the ground up. And I mean setting up everything - furniture, utilities, service providers, purchasing all the home goods. I’ve had to pretend to be the “spouse” for many and provide their secure information to get everything set up. Whatever it takes to help eliminate the stress. Q: How far in advance does someone typically need to schedule your services? A: I am typically booked a few weeks in advance. I do have a couple of helpers who I trust to assist me when a client is in a time crunch. Q: Is there anything else that would be important to know? A: My clients become my friends and family. I have been blessed with so many people in my journey in life. For example, I have a client I have taken groceries to every other week for 20 years. I call her “Granny.” She is my family now. I’ve been there with her for two surgeries and helped her find a new place to live. The best way to contact Becca is by phone: 512-496-1195 Her e-mail is [email protected] and her Facebook page is Concierge of Austin. “One thing about me is I work all day and I wrap up by 4 p.m. because I like to be home for my kids when they get home from school,” Becca says. “But I will respond to text messages after hours and help people feel at ease when they reach out to me.” **Concierge of Austin is offering a one-time $5 off per hour for someone who mentions this article**
